It looks like I’m going to take a little drawing hiatus, maybe a week at most. /crosses fingers

Finally heard back from my former physical therapist. He suggests that I take a break from drawing until other activities (such as carrying groceries, chores, etc) are not painful for me. I then need to limit my drawing time to prevent pain. Right now I’m drawing until I have pain, but according to him, that’s only making the pain worse.

I ordered a wrist brace from Canada that’s supposed to be really good, so that should arrive next week. In the meantime, I received another wrist brace to use while I’m on my computer and that I’ll use while sleeping so my tendon doesn’t cause any more havoc.

It’ll be tough to find other creative outputs for me in the meantime, but I think I might write up some of my pet stories since I would love to get their petpages done. If anyone would like to RP, I would be game for that as well! Otherwise, I might start digging into my giant “to read” list, aah.

Oh my gosh guys, two things.

1) Please DO NOT do this! You can always send me an ask here, I even have my Anon option open if you’re not comfortable asking me with your username and I’ll respond when I can.

2) Please DO NOT use art that is either my own pets or my friends’ pets! You may only use art if I draw it for you or for your pet application. I only do requests for my friends nowadays, especially with my hand hurting.

If you guys have any other questions or are unsure of anything, just ask me! I’d like to think I’m really nice. ;_;

For the art gallery, you submission has to be under 80 KB and smaller than 500x500 pixels! Just use the “Save for Web Devices” feature in your program to adjust.

Random contest allows for larger submissions but I’m not sure of the dimensions.

Although, three of my pets (Dorutza, Janaschi, and Pluzey) are nomadic so they just wander around Neopia but I could imagine them staying in Altador for the Altador Cup since they’ve never seen it before! I guess the absolute worse cause scenario is our pets can rent a Neohome.

Venting post. I’ve been drinking a bit so apologies if there are run-on’s and typos.

Basically my hand pains are still coming back. I can only do about 2-3 hours of drawing before I have to stop and rest else I’m in pain for the rest of the day.

It sucks, it really does. I’ve already gone through physical therapy, I’ve been doing the stretches and exercises they recommended. Heck, I’m even going to yoga once a week. But even carrying groceries up to my apartment has started up the pains again and I’m just so frustrated.

Anyways, I was talking to another artist friend of mine and she had a similar injury. Only her physical therapist made her rest for a few months where mine did not suggest that, and I had to get a little drunk tonight to even get myself to write my former physical therapist about my problems. I’m scared he’ll say yes to the break and I’ll be miserable because when I’m not creating art, I get really depressed.

Yet, I know the alternatives will be to either go see a hand specialist or my worst fear - carpel tunnel surgery. Even if I’m asked to come back for more physical therapy, I’ll have to go to a different practice because I switched insurances.

I don’t know why I’m writing this, or hell, even on my Neopets blog. I only have one good friend from the tag and I’m even embarrassed to talk to her about what’s really going on in my life. I put a lot of unneeded pressure on myself to try and be a decent artist, especially because I know so many successful artists and I honestly don’t see myself doing anything else for the rest of my life.

I’m just sad that I can’t be the true artist I want to be and the only art that makes me somewhat happy is drawing Neopets again, and I feel like such a weird responsible aged person for it to be like that. Ugh.

I’m not looking for any sympathy or attention. I just wanted to get this out of my mind and at least know that there might be one or two of you who’ll read it.

I guess I’ll write an update when I hear back from my physical therapist.
